I started in 1985 with somatic therapy training. By 1989, I specialized in trauma—clients where talk therapy alone failed. I’ve been Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB) since 1995, focusing on trauma, using touch-based approaches to help process trauma in the nervous system and body.
In 2016, I received my Substance Use Disorder counselor training, working with clients with addictive disorders. That led to the decision to pursue my MSW degree, and ultimately, to my LCSW licensure, bringing formal psychotherapy credentials to my decades of trauma-informed practice. More recently, I’ve worked with high-acuity clients with complex trauma and co-occurring disorders.
I also co-founded Wholehearted.org, a membership platform offering clinical training for mental health and addiction professionals. In this role, I worked with multiple thought leaders, identifying and assisting in development of specialized programming for individuals and professionals.
My approach to therapy is rooted in 30+ years of understanding trauma through somatic work—what talk therapy alone couldn’t reach. This shapes my current work as connected body/mind healing.
When I talk about nervous system, anxiety in your chest, patterns in your shoulders—I’m not metaphorical. I know how to help you access change as an integrated body/mind process.
I know when talk therapy alone falls short. After years working with clients where talk alone wasn’t sufficient I trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and other somatic approaches to supplement and integrate with talk therapy.
I also bring substance use expertise, over 10 years with clients in residential and outpatient treatment. I understand the intersection between trauma and addiction and nervous system dysregulation.
I’m empathetic, humorous, and direct. Decades of somatic work teaches what’s true in the body. As an LCSW, I am skilled in many types of somatic and talk therapies. And my 30+ years of trauma-informed, somatic-grounded experience informs and supplements that training and experience, providing a more well-rounded skillset.
I help you understand yourself deeper. Shifts happen intellectually and physically—shoulders drop, breathing changes. Usually both.
You shouldn’t spend years processing what could resolve in months. Your nervous system holds wisdom. Anxiety, depression, patterns make sense. They can shift with the right approach.
While I generally don’t believe in instant cures (though ART comes close for some disorders), you also shouldn’t have to spend years processing something to get relief and results. The majority of my clients see significant improvement in months.
I believe you’re more resilient than you think. My job is to help you access that resilience.
